Voskehat, 2015. ArmAs
Appellation: Aragatsotn Province, Armenia
Winetasting with Paul Kalemkiarian & Ed Masciana
Voskehat is one of those confusing words that is both a grape and a place. It is indigenous to Armenia and probably as old as winemaking itself. The wine is fermented in oak barrels so there is a hint of vanilla in the nose, but it's not overpowering. Then comes the lilac and a touch of chalk. The flavor comes across as warm vanilla pudding with flecks of lime zest and a touch of spice. Engaging and esoteric in the best way.
