Winetasting with Paul Kalemkiarian & Ed Masciana
Cabernet Sauvignon, 2015. 1790
Appellation: Paso Robles, California
Paso Robles is one of the most unique wine-producing regions in California. It gets hot - really hot - but at night it gets quite cold. Why does that matter? Well, when it's hot, the vine produces sugar. If it's still hot at night, it's still producing sugar, but at a lower rate. If it's really cold, the vine stops producing sugar. So, what you have in Paso Robles is a longer growing season. And more time on the vine translates to much more intensity of flavor in the grapes. And this wine is full of flavor. From the ripe cherry, licorice and earth, to the dense middle and exhilarating finish, it pleases at every level. Light the BBQ and enjoy!
